Xioflo Suspension 60 ML

Xioflo Suspension 60 ML is used for the following conditions in children:

• Management of pneumonia, a lung infection.

• Controlling typhoid fever, an illness caused by Salmonella bacteria.

• Regulating infectious diarrhoea.

• Addressing skin and soft tissue infections.

• Assisting in the management of eye and ear infections.

• Aiding in handling bone and joint infections.

• Helping control urinary tract and prostate infections.

• Managing bronchitis, an inflammation of the bronchial tubes.

Please follow these steps when giving Xioflo Suspension 60 ML to your child:

• Shake the syrup bottle well before each use.

• Use the provided measuring cup or dropper to give your child the correct dose.

• This medicine can be given with or without food, but avoid giving it with dairy products.

• Keep the bottle tightly sealed after use.

• This medicine is sugar-based and needs caution for use if your child has diabetes. Consult your doctor before giving this medicine if this applies.

Xioflo Suspension 60 ML contains ofloxacin (100 mg) acting as follows:

• Inhibiting Bacterial Enzymes: Ofloxacin works by blocking two crucial bacterial enzymes - DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. These enzymes are vital for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair and recombination.

• Killing Bacteria: By inhibiting these enzymes, ofloxacin prevents bacterial DNA activities leading to cell death. This action makes it effective against most gram-negative bacteria, some gram-positive bacteria, and certain anaerobes.

• Broad-Spectrum Antibiotic: As a broad-spectrum antibiotic, it has activity against a wide range of bacteria making it useful in managing various types of bacterial infections.

• Store Xioflo Suspension 60 ML in a cool, dry place, ideally at room temperature.

• Shield the syrup from direct sunlight and moisture to maintain its effectiveness.

• Always keep the medicine out of the reach and sight of children.

• Make sure to use the syrup before its expiry date.

• If your child has been prescribed Xioflo Suspension 60 ML for urinary tract infections, encourage them to drink plenty of fluids, especially water. This helps flush bacteria out of the urinary system.

• In case of bacterial infections causing diarrhoea, offering your child a diet comprising light foods like rice, bananas, and toast can help manage symptoms. Consult with your doctor for more specific dietary advice.
