Takfa 2 Capsule 10

Takfa-2 Capsule is used for the following:

• Preventing organ rejection after a kidney transplant

• Lowering the risk of your body rejecting a liver transplant

• Managing immune response in patients who have undergone a heart transplant

Use Takfa-2 Capsule as follows:

• You should swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water.

• Don't cut, crush or chew the capsule.

• If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can within 12 hours. If it's more than 12 hours late, skip it.

Takfa-2 Capsule is taken orally.

Takfa-2 Capsule contains Tacrolimus (2 mg). It exerts its effect on the body through the following mechanisms:

• Binds to FKBP-12: Tacrolimus binds to a specific protein in the body known as FKBP-12. This is a critical step in the medicine's mechanism of action.

• Inhibits Calcineurin: The binding of Tacrolimus to FKBP-12 leads to the formation of a complex that inhibits an enzyme called calcineurin. This enzyme is crucial for the activation and multiplication of T-cells, which are primary players in organ rejection.

• Suppresses T-cell Responses: By inhibiting calcineurin, Tacrolimus prevents the production of IL-2, a substance crucial for T-cell activation and multiplication. This action effectively suppresses T-cell-mediated immune responses, thereby reducing the chances of organ rejection.

• Keep Takfa-2 Capsule in a cool and dry place, ideally at room temperature below 30°C.

• Safeguard it from moisture and direct sunlight.

• Always keep this medicine out of sight and reach of children.

• Be sure to check the expiry date on the pack, and don't use it past that date.

• As Takfa-2 Capsule may cause hyperkalaemia (high blood potassium levels), you might want to limit your consumption of high-potassium foods like bananas, oranges, and spinach.

• Since this medicine can increase your skin's sensitivity to sunlight, it's advisable to limit your exposure to the sun by wearing protective clothing and using sunscreen when outdoors.
