Serenace Injection 1 ml is a prescription medication for chronic schizophrenia. Chronic schizophrenia is a long-term mental disorder that falls under psychotic disorders. It is characterised by a combination of symptoms that affect thoughts, emotions, perceptions, and behaviour. The main symptoms of chronic schizophrenia include hallucinations, delusions, thought disorder, disorganised behaviour, reduced speech, social withdrawal, reduced motivation, impaired memory, attention problems, and challenges with planning, problem-solving, decision-making, and organising daily activities.
Schizophrenia emerges in late adolescence or early adulthood, although it can occur at any age. Certain risk factors may increase the likelihood of developing chronic schizophrenia, including a family history of the disorder, exposure to prenatal complications or infections, substance abuse, and high-stress levels.
The decision to use Serenace Injection 1 ml in managing chronic schizophrenia is made only by a psychiatrist. It is administered to rapidly control severe symptoms of psychosis, such as aggression, agitation, or severe behavioural disturbances.
Serenace Injection 1 ml composition includes haloperidol (5 mg) as its active ingredient. It is contraindicated in patients with severe central nervous system (CNS) depression or alcohol intoxication.
