Jalra-M 50mg/1000mg Tablet is used for the following:

• Management of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults.

• Enhancing blood sugar control in patients already taking vildagliptin and metformin separately.

• Improving glycemic control when type 2 diabetes is not adequately regulated by metformin alone.

• Complementary use with diet and exercise for better management of blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes.

Jalra-M 50mg/1000mg Tablet contains two active ingredients:

• Metformin (1000 mg): Metformin works on your body by decreasing the production of glucose in the liver, reducing the absorption of glucose in your intestines, and improving how your body responds to insulin by increasing glucose uptake and utilisation. Importantly, it doesn't stimulate insulin secretion and so doesn't cause hypoglycemia or excessive insulin levels.

• Vildagliptin (50 mg): As a DPP-4 inhibitor, vildagliptin increases levels of hormones called incretins. These hormones improve the sensitivity of cells that produce insulin to sugar, leading to better insulin secretion when sugar is present in the blood. Vildagliptin also reduces glucagon secretion from cells that release glucose into the blood, leading to less glucose production in your body. Like metformin, vildagliptin has a low risk of causing hypoglycemia.
