Gabapax Ointment 30gm

Gabapax Ointment is used for the following:

• Managing neuropathic pain conditions

• Alleviating postherpetic neuralgia: This is a type of pain that follows after a shingles infection.

• Managing diabetic peripheral neuropathy: This condition involves nerve damage due to high blood sugar levels in diabetes.

• Reducing chronic neuropathic pain: This type of pain arises from damaged or dysfunctional nerves.

• Improving overall quality of life in patients with chronic neuropathic pain.

Apply Gabapax Ointment as suggested below:

• Ensure that the skin area you're applying the ointment to is clean and dry. You can use soap and water for this, then pat it dry using a clean towel.

• Use your fingertip or a clean cotton swab to apply the ointment to the affected area.

• The amount needed will depend on the size of the affected area. Apply a thin layer and gently rub it in until fully absorbed.

• Wash your hands thoroughly after applying to avoid contact with sensitive areas such as your eyes, nose, and mouth.

Gabapax Ointment is applied topically.

Gabapax Ointment consists of five active ingredients:

• Capsaicin (0.025%): This natural compound derived from chilli peppers works by reducing substance P levels, which transmit pain signals in the body, thereby desensitising pain receptors.

• Gabapentin (8%): An anticonvulsant medication that binds to certain elements in calcium channels, reducing the release of excitatory neurotransmitters and altering pain signalling pathways.

• Ketoprofen (5%): This non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicine inhibits the production of prostaglandins, substances involved in inflammation and pain, thereby helping reduce inflammation.

• Lidocaine Hydrochloride (5%): A local anaesthetic that blocks sodium channels which interrupt nerve impulses, resulting in a numbing effect for rapid relief from pain.

• Methyl Salicylate (5%): This counter-irritant creates a warming or cooling sensation on the skin which distracts from pain sensations while providing mild analgesic effects.

• Store Gabapax Ointment at room temperature, ideally between 15°C and 25°C.

• Keep the ointment in a dry place, away from direct heat and light.

• To protect it from air and moisture, always close the tube tightly after use.

• For safety, keep it out of reach and sight of children.

• If you're using Gabapax Ointment for neuropathic pain due to diabetes, managing your blood sugar levels is crucial. Eat a balanced diet rich in whole grains, fruits and vegetables, and remember to monitor your glucose regularly.
