Duphalac Bulk Oral Solution is used for the following:

• Managing acute and chronic constipation: It helps soften stools and promotes regular bowel movements.

• Assisting in the management of hepatic encephalopathy: This medicine helps in reducing blood ammonia levels that can accumulate in patients with liver dysfunction, leading to neurological symptoms.

Follow these instructions while using Duphalac Bulk Oral Solution:

• Measure the correct dose using the measuring cup provided with the bottle.

• You can take this medicine with or without food, as per your convenience.

• If needed, the solution can be mixed with fruit juice or water before consumption.

• Store the bottle properly after use to maintain its effectiveness.

• As this medicine contains some sugar, if you are a diabetic patient, your blood sugar levels should be monitored while taking this medicine.

Duphalac Bulk Oral Solution is taken orally.

Duphalac Bulk Oral Solution contains four active ingredients that work together to provide relief:

• Lactulose (10 g): This synthetic disaccharide is not absorbed in the small intestine; instead, it reaches the colon unchanged, where it is fermented by gut bacteria. This fermentation process creates an osmotic effect that draws water into the bowels, increasing stool bulk and softening stools.  

• Fructooligosaccharides (2.5 g), Polydextrose (2.1 g), and Wheat Dextrin (3.5 g): These three ingredients are soluble dietary fibres and prebiotics that are not digested in the small intestine. They reach the colon largely intact, where they undergo selective fermentation by beneficial bacteria like Bifidobacteria and Lactobacilli. This produces short-chain fatty acids that have a mild laxative effect and improve stool consistency.

• Store Duphalac Bulk Oral Solution at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C. 

• Protect it from direct sunlight and heat. 

• Always ensure the solution is out of reach of children.

• Use the solution within 4 weeks of opening the bottle.

• Do not freeze the solution. 

• Remember to check the expiry date and use it before that.

• If you're dealing with constipation, try to include more dietary fibre in your meals, such as whole grains, fruits, and vegetables. Fibre helps to soften stools, making them easier to pass.

• To manage hepatic encephalopathy, reduce your intake of high-protein foods, as these can lead to increased ammonia production. However, consult your doctor before making any significant changes to your diet.
