How Tranexamic Acid + Mefenamic Acid works

  • Tranexamic Acid helps stop excessive bleeding by preventing blood clots from breaking down too quickly. It works by blocking a substance called plasminogen that breaks down clots. By doing this, it helps keep clots stable and prevents too much bleeding. In the case of heavy menstrual bleeding, it reduces blood loss by keeping the clots in the uterus from breaking down too soon.
  • Mefenamic Acid is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that reduces pain and inflammation by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins, which are chemicals in the body that cause pain and swelling.
  • Together, Tranexamic Acid and Mefenamic Acid manage heavy menstrual bleeding by addressing both the bleeding and the associated pain.
