Contraindications

Overdose and Missed Dose

• An overdose of Tetrabenazine may cause symptoms such as drowsiness, sedation, hypotension, tachycardia, and extrapyramidal symptoms. If you observe any of these symptoms, inform your doctor immediately.

• If you forget to take your dose of Tetrabenazine, take it as soon as you remember. However, skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.

• Tetrabenazine may cause sedation and drowsiness, which can impair your ability to drive or operate heavy machinery. Avoid these activities if you feel dizzy or sleepy after taking this medicine.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

• The use of Tetrabenazine during pregnancy and breastfeeding is not recommended unless advised by your doctor. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to conceive, or breastfeeding.

Caution in Other Conditions

• Tetrabenazine should be used with caution in patients with liver impairment, as it is extensively metabolized by the liver. Regular monitoring of liver function may be necessary while taking this medicine.

• It should also be used with caution in patients with a history of QT prolongation or other heart problems, as Tetrabenazine may prolong the QT interval.
