ContraindicationsSalmeterol

• Salmeterol is contraindicated in patients who have severe hypersensitivity to salmeterol or any of its components.

• It is also contraindicated in those experiencing acute asthma symptoms or deteriorating COPD.

• Hyperthyroidism

Other Medications to Avoid

• This medicine may interact with beta-blockers (such as propranolol), diuretics (such as furosemide), antifungals (such as ketoconazole), and HIV protease inhibitors (such as ritonavir).

Overdose and Missed Dose

• An overdose may cause chest pain, a fast or irregular heartbeat, nervousness, headaches, tremor and muscle cramps. If you observe these symptoms, inform your doctor immediately and follow the advice accordingly.

• If you forget to use this medicine, use it as soon as you remember. But if it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not double your dose to make up for a missed one.

Management of Side Effects

Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless and resolve when discontinuing this medicine. However, if you experience any severe side effects or worsening of any of the symptoms, please consult your doctor.

• Drinking plenty of fluids can help manage throat irritation and cough.

• Rest techniques can help manage nervousness and insomnia.

Use in Driving and Operating Machinery

• It may cause dizziness or nervousness in some individuals. If this happens, avoid driving or operating machinery until you feel stable again.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

• Salmeterol should only be used during pregnancy if the benefits outweigh the potential risks to the fetus.

• Nursing mothers should consult their doctor before using this medicine.

Caution in Other Conditions

• Individuals with heart problems, high blood pressure, seizures, thyroid disorders, or diabetes should exercise caution when using Salmeterol.

• Additionally, individuals with a history of bone density issues or glaucoma should be regularly monitored while using Salmeterol.
