How Repaglinide works

It acts by binding and closing the ATP-dependent potassium channels on pancreatic beta cells. This action causes the cell to depolarise, triggering a calcium influx. The influx of calcium stimulates the beta cells to release more insulin into the bloodstream. This insulin then facilitates the uptake of glucose by peripheral tissues and puts a stop to hepatic glucose production, thereby lowering blood glucose levels. The action of Repaglinide is glucose-dependent, which means when blood glucose levels are higher, more insulin is released.

Overdose and Missed Dose
An overdose of Repaglinide can cause severe hypoglycaemia. If you suspect an overdose, consult a doctor immediately.
If you miss a dose, skip that dose if the meal was missed. If an extra meal is eaten, take an additional dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.
