Prulifloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic.
It works by inhibiting the action of an enzyme called DNA gyrase that bacteria require to synthesize and repair their DNA. By blocking this enzyme, Prulifloxacin prevents bacterial cells from dividing and growing, eventually causing them to die.

Prulifloxacin is available for use via the oral route (tablets). It is also available in formulations suitable for intravenous administration for use in hospital settings.
