• This medicine is meant for adults and children above 2 years of age.

Contraindications

• This medicine is contraindicated in patients with known allergies to Iodine, and polyvinylpyrrolidone, patients who have or have a history of thyroid problems, and patients undergoing lithium therapy for management of depression.

Medications to Avoid with This Drug

• Povidone Iodine should not be used together with antidepressants like lithium. It is also important to let your doctor know about any other medicines including over-the-counter medications that you may be taking. 

Overdose and Missed Dose

• As this medicine is meant to be used topically, an overdose is unlikely. In case of this accidental ingestion, effects like vomiting, diarrhoea, and abdominal pain may occur. In case of such an event, please visit the hospital immediately. 
• If you use this medicine more than you should, inform your doctor and follow the advice accordingly.

Management of Side Effects

• Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless and resolve when discontinuing this medicine. However, if you experience any severe side effects or worsening of any of the symptoms, please consult your doctor.

• This medication is not known to impair your ability to drive or operate machinery.

• Consult a doctor before using this medicine in pregnancy and breastfeeding.

• Patients with renal conditions should exercise caution when taking this medicine. It may also interfere with thyroid function tests in patients with thyroid disorders.

• Avoid walking barefoot in places like gym showers to prevent infections.
• Refrain from scratching infected skin to prevent spreading the infection.

• Wash your bedsheets and towels frequently to maintain cleanliness.
• Limit alcohol and caffeine intake for better health.
• For overall wellness, manage stress, eat a balanced diet, stay hydrated, exercise regularly, and prioritize sleep.
