Ofloxacin, the first component, belongs to the class of antibiotics called fluoroquinolones. It works by blocking the action of two important bacterial enzymes, DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. These enzymes are vital for bacteria to replicate and repair their DNA. By inhibiting these enzymes, Ofloxacin stops the multiplication of bacteria.
Tinidazole, the other active ingredient in this combination, is a nitroimidazole antibiotic. It works by directly damaging the DNA of harmful bacteria and certain protozoa, which leads to their death. It specifically targets anaerobic bacteria and protozoa.
