Ofloxacin + Satranidazole is a combination of two types of antibiotics.
Ofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. It works by blocking the action of enzymes called DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV in bacteria. These enzymes are necessary for the bacteria to reproduce and repair themselves. Blocking them leads to disruption of DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination in the bacteria, causing their death.
Satranidazole is a nitroimidazole derivative. It works by getting reduced inside susceptible protozoa and anaerobic bacteria by an enzyme called ferredoxin. Its reduced form damages the DNA, RNA, and proteins in these microorganisms, leading to their death.
