Montelukast

ANTIALLERGIC

Uses of Montelukast

  • Montelukast is used to manage asthma symptoms and also provides relief of symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis.
  • It also serves to prevent the constriction of airways induced by physical exercise (exercise-induced asthma).

Side effects of Montelukast

  • Headache
  • Abdominal pain
  • Thirst
  • Diarrhoea
  • Nausea

How Montelukast works

  • Montelukast functions by obstructing substances known as leukotrienes. These leukotrienes constrict and inflame the airways in the lungs and trigger allergy symptoms. By inhibiting leukotrienes, Montelukast effectively relieves asthma symptoms, manages asthma, and mitigates seasonal allergy symptoms.
