Miconazole + Mometasone + Nadifloxacin is an antifungal, steroidal and antibacterial combination.
Miconazole acts as an antifungal agent stopping the growth of fungi. It achieves this by inhibiting the production of a substance called ergosterol, that's crucial for the structure of fungal cell membranes. Lack of ergosterol disrupts the cell membranes, causing leakage of cellular contents and leading to the death of the fungi.
Mometasone is a corticosteroid. It works by binding to certain receptors inside cells and changing the way these cells behave. This in turn results in reduced production of substances that trigger inflammation, itching, redness, and swelling in the skin.
Nadifloxacin, being a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, targets bacteria causing infections. It interferes with two important bacterial enzymes called DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. By disrupting these enzymes, it hinders bacterial DNA replication process, thereby killing the bacteria and clearing up the infection.
The combined action of these three components facilitates comprehensive management of mixed skin infections involving both fungi and bacteria.
