Metformin + Nateglinide is contraindicated in individuals with Type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe kidney impairment (eGFR below 30 mL/min/1.73 m²), and known hypersensitivity to either metformin or nateglinide.
This combination may interact with thiazide diuretics (such as hydrochlorothiazide), corticosteroids (like prednisone), phenothiazines (including chlorpromazine), thyroid products (such as levothyroxine), oestrogens (like estradiol), oral contraceptives (including ethinylestradiol), calcium channel blockers (such as amlodipine) and beta-blockers (like propranolol).
An overdose of Metformin + Nateglinide might lead to severe hypoglycemia characterised by extreme weakness, blurred vision, sweating, trouble speaking, tremors, stomach pain, confusion, and seizure. Immediate medical attention is necessary if overdose is suspected.
If you miss a dose of Metformin + Nateglinide, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.
Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless and resolve when discontinuing this medicine. However, if you experience any severe side effects or worsening of any of the symptoms, please consult your doctor.
