Frusemide + Spironolactone

DIURETIC

Uses of Frusemide + Spironolactone

  • Furosemide + Spironolactone is used to remove excess water from the body by promoting urine production (diuresis).
  • It helps reduce fluid retention in conditions such as heart failure, liver cirrhosis, and kidney disorders.
  • Additionally, this combination helps maintain proper potassium levels in the bloodstream, which is crucial for preventing hypokalemia (low potassium levels).

Side effects of Frusemide + Spironolactone

  • Dehydration
  • Electrolyte imbalance
  • Hypovolaemia
  • Breast enlargement in male
  • Menstrual irregularities

How Frusemide + Spironolactone works

  • Frusemide works as a diuretic; it removes the excess salts and water from the body through passing urine, and over time, it also helps in blood vessel relaxation. However, there is potassium salt loss on intake of frusemide.
  • Spironolactone works as a diuretic but with no potassium loss from the body.
  • This balancing and coordination of two medicines helps in resistant edema.
