Doxofylline + Montelukast is primarily used for the prophylaxis and chronic management of asthma and as an add-on therapy for symptomatic relief in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It belongs to the group of bronchodilators and leukotriene receptor antagonists.
It is also used to prevent exercise-induced bronchoconstriction and relieve symptoms of both seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis.

How Doxofylline + Montelukast works
Doxofylline belongs to a group of medicines known as xanthine derivatives. It works by inhibiting specific enzymes known as phosphodiesterases in our bodies. This action relaxes the muscles surrounding the airways, making breathing easier and reducing the cough.
Montelukast is a leukotriene receptor antagonist. It works by blocking the action of leukotriene D4 (LTD4), a natural substance that causes inflammation, constriction of airways, and production of mucus in the lungs. This results in an ease of breathing and a reduction in symptoms.
