Contraindications

• Darunavir + Ritonavir is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to any of its components.

• It is also contraindicated for use in patients with severe hepatic impairment.

Other Medications to Avoid

• Darunavir + Ritonavir may interact with medications such as alpha-blockers (like alfuzosin), anti-anginal medications (like ranolazine), statins (like simvastatin and lovastatin), and benzodiazepines (like midazolam and triazolam).

Overdose and Missed Dose

• An overdose of Darunavir + Ritonavir may cause symptoms like nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, and rash. Should you experience any of these symptoms following an overdose, please inform your doctor immediately.

• In case you forget to take a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next one on time. Never double up the dose to compensate for the missed one.

Management of Side Effects

Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless and resolve when discontinuing this medicine. However, if you experience any severe side effects or worsening of any of the symptoms, please consult your doctor.

• Drinking plenty of fluids can help manage some side effects like diarrhoea, nausea, and vomiting.

• Resting and avoiding strenuous activity can help manage fatigue.

Use in Driving and Operating Machinery

• Darunavir + Ritonavir may affect your ability to drive or operate heavy machinery due to its potential side effects like dizziness or fatigue. It is recommended that you avoid such activities until you know how the medicine affects you.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

• The use of Darunavir + Ritonavir in pregnant women is usually only recommended if the benefits to the mother outweigh the potential risks to the foetus.

• The medicine is also not recommended during breastfeeding unless prescribed by your doctor.

Caution in Other Conditions

• Individuals with diabetes or haemophilia should consult their doctor before starting this medication, as it might require close monitoring or dosage adjustments.
