Chlorzoxazone + Nimesulide is primarily used to manage muscle pain and inflammation and is part of the muscle relaxants and NSAIDs.
This combination of medications is commonly prescribed for relieving painful muscle spasms and inflammation from injuries like strains and sprains, managing pain and inflammation associated with musculoskeletal and joint disorders such as lower back pain and osteoarthritis, and providing short-term relief from menstrual cramps.
Common side effects of Chlorzoxazone + Nimesulide include:
Stomach upset or indigestion
Abdominal pain
Diarrhoea
Dizziness
Skin rash
Chlorzoxazone + Nimesulide is a combination medication of a muscle relaxant and a NSAID.
Chlorzoxazone operates by acting centrally on the brain and spinal cord, believed to hinder the reflex pathways that cause muscle spasms, thus aiding in the relaxation of stiff, tense muscles.
Nimesulide, on the other hand, works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes. These enzymes contribute to the formation of prostaglandins, which are chemicals that sensitise nerve endings, causing inflammation, pain and fever. By reducing prostaglandin synthesis, nimesulide helps ease these symptoms.
