Cefixime is an antibiotic that belongs to a group called cephalosporins. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria by interfering with the bacteria's cell wall. It does this by attaching to proteins on the bacterial cell wall, preventing the cell wall from being properly constructed. This leads to the breakdown of the bacterial cell and its eventual destruction.
Lactobacillus is a type of friendly bacteria, or probiotic. It works by helping to restore the natural balance of bacteria in your gut which can be disrupted when you take antibiotics.
Ofloxacin is another type of antibiotic, this time from the group known as fluoroquinolones. It kills bacteria by blocking two enzymes, DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, which bacteria need to replicate their DNA, a vital step for bacteria to multiply.
