Betamethasone + Neomycin is primarily used to manage various bacterial skin infections and inflammatory skin conditions. It belongs to the group of medicines known as corticosteroids and antibiotics.
Apart from managing skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, and other rashes prone to bacterial infections, this combination of betamethasone and neomycin is useful as it helps reduce inflammation, redness, and itching while preventing or managing bacterial infections that could worsen skin inflammation.

Betamethasone, the corticosteroid component, works by blocking the production of inflammation-causing substances known as prostaglandins. It also inhibits the accumulation of inflammatory cells, suppresses allergic reactions, and constricts blood vessels to reduce redness and swelling.
Neomycin, an aminoglycoside antibiotic, hampers the growth of bacteria. It binds to bacterial ribosomes, inhibiting protein synthesis and altering bacterial cell membranes which leads to leakage of cell contents. It also prevents bacteria from adhering to the skin surface.
