Alendronate / Alendronic Acid + Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) is a combination used to treat and prevent osteoporosis.
Alendronate is a type of medication known as a bisphosphonate. It works by binding to the surfaces of bones, slowing down the activity of cells called osteoclasts that break down bone tissue. This reduces bone loss and increases bone strength and density.
Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) aids in the absorption of calcium and phosphate in the intestines. This helps with the creation of new bone tissue by cells known as osteoblasts.
