• Ademetionine is available for use via oral (enteric-coated tablets) and intravascular or intramuscular route (injection).

Age and Dose Restrictions

• This medicine is primarily meant for adult use. However, it can be given to children under extreme caution and only if recommended by a doctor.

Contraindications

• This medicine is contraindicated in patients with known allergies to Ademetionine. Patients with bipolar depression and certain liver diseases like biliary obstruction, liver impairment, variceal bleeding, ascites, and liver encephalopathy should avoid using this medicine.

Other Medications to Avoid

• Ademetionine may interact with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (e.g., moclobemide, phenelzine), antidepressants (e.g., bupropion, fluoxetine), antiparkinsonian medicines (e.g., levodopa, carbidopa), and painkillers (e.g., tramadol, acetaminophen).

Overdose and Missed Dose

• An overdose of Ademetionine may lead to serious health issues such as constipation, insomnia (difficulty in sleeping) and dizziness. If you suspect an overdose, seek medical attention immediately.
• If you forget to take a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose.

Management of Side Effects

Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless and resolve when discontinuing this medicine. However, if you experience any severe side effects or worsening of any of the symptoms, please consult your doctor.

• Abdominal discomfort or pain can be managed by taking the medication with meals.
• Diarrhoea may be managed by drinking plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration.

Use in Driving and Operating Machinery

• Ademetionine may cause feelings of dizziness and sleepiness. If you experience these side effects, avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you feel well enough.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

• It is recommended to consult a doctor before using Ademetionine during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

Caution in Other Conditions

• Patients suffering from diabetes and Parkinson's disease should exercise caution while taking Ademetionine.

Special Dietary and Lifestyle Recommendations

• Avoid high-fat, trans-fat, processed foods, white bread, white pasta, and sugars.
