Aceclofenac

ANALGESIC

Uses of Aceclofenac

  • Aceclofenac, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), is used to relieve pain and inflammation in conditions like osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and other musculoskeletal issues such as frozen shoulder and lower back pain.
  • It helps improve mobility and reduce discomfort in chronic pain conditions.

Side effects of Aceclofenac

The side effects of Aceclofenac are:

  • Indigestion
  • Abdominal pain
  • Nausea
  • Diarrhoea
  • Headache
  • Dizziness

How Aceclofenac works

Aceclofenac works by inhibiting the action of cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, which play a key role in the synthesis of prostaglandins. Here's a more detailed look at how it functions:

  • Aceclofenac inhibits the activity of both COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes. These enzymes are crucial in the biochemical pathway that converts arachidonic acid into prostaglandins.
  • Prostaglandins are chemicals in the body that promote inflammation, pain, and fever. By blocking the COX enzymes, Aceclofenac reduces the production of prostaglandins.
  • The reduction in prostaglandins leads to decreased inflammation and pain. This is particularly beneficial in conditions like arthritis, where inflammation is a significant source of pain.
