Abciximab
Uses of Abciximab
The primary use of Abciximab is to prevent ischemic complications in patients undergoing PCI procedures like angioplasty and stenting. It belongs to the class of medications known as platelet aggregation inhibitors.
In addition, it is used as an adjunct to aspirin and heparin therapy, helping to reduce the risk of heart attacks and other serious heart problems during and after these procedures.

How Abciximab works
Abciximab is a platelet aggregation inhibitor.

By sticking to these receptors, it prevents platelets from sticking together, thus stopping the formation of blood clots.
This action helps to maintain blood flow through the heart's arteries during and after procedures like percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), which involves widening of narrowed or blocked coronary arteries.

Contraindications
Patients with known hypersensitivity to the components of the formulation.
